This “House Finch” print is a one-of-a-kind work that unique only to this series of bird artworks. John James Audubon did not document this common and beautiful little bird.This gives the opportunity for my flare and artistic approach by documenting two color variations of the male of the species. For me this woudl add more color to meet the needs of anyone seeking to add to accent artwork into their interior design needs and wildlife themed art collections.
This print features two males and documents the plumage variations. While well documented, the occurrence of the orange feathers remains a mystery to science. There is some argument that it is due to diet, but it has not been studied heavily yet. While it would be unusual to find two males in close quarters, I could not resist the opportunity to document both specimens when I received them at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. The zoology collection houses several thousand bird specimens and these two recent acquisitions were high quality specimens. Who could say no to them?
