[ART] Artist Statement – Andy Warhol Naked & Unlabeled

This series was revived in 2013 after its original execution in 2007. The original series was part of my final presentation and art show to complete my Bachelor in Fine Arts for the University of Colorado. The artist statement was from the original series and still holds true.

“My work is a visual extension of what I absorb. I knowingly acknowledge that I am a product of my surroundings and my work is directly influenced by it. Our past is what makes us who we are and feeds the creativity and critical thinking that is necessary to build work to on a higher level.  I find this knowledge heavily influences my work.

Certain artists resonate with me and I find myself delighted to dig deep into their history and stories and make them part of my life. Artist such as John James Audubon, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Andy Warhol have spun such a power series of work and personal stories that I find myself drawn to the depth and breadth of their work.”
